Clean & Green

Respond, Inc operates a 12-week lawn care and lot stabilization training program, offering three sessions a year. Participants receive hands on training by contributing to Respond’s Clean and Green Committee to stabilize and beautify vacant lots. Program graduates receive certificates of accomplishment from Camden City Mayor’s Office. 

Clean and Green is a committee of Save Our Waterfront (SOW), an organization dedicated to keeping the North Camden community safe and thriving. SOW, of which Respond,Inc is part, meets on a monthly basis to discuss how to make North Camden a great place to live, work and play. The goal of Clean and Green is to stabilize vacant land throughout the North Camden community and to provide valuable job training experience to Camden Residents, a mission shared by Camden Mayor Dana Redd. Clean and Green Workers have provided landscaping services to Pyne Poynt Marine Services, Camden Tool, Camden Lutheran Housing, HopeWorks, New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Cooper’s Ferry Partnership, Higher Ground Temple of God and Christ, and The Meadows at Pyne Poynt.

Automotive Technology

The Responsive Automotive Technology Training Program and Service Center is a state-of-the-art service center in North Camden. The primary objectives of the Automotive Technology Training and Service Center are to increase local workforce preparedness, to create new employment opportunities, to bring new commercial uses to the neighborhood that will meet residents’ needs, to make North Camden a friendlier place to do business, 10 transform North Camden into a full-service urban neighborhood, where people can live, work, play, and shop.

 

We teach and train students in marketable skills such as technology fundamentals, brake systems, engine performance, engine repair, steering, suspension, and automatic, manual and electrical systems. Program graduates have the opportunity to participate in Respond, Inc.’s social enterprise, a 3,200 square foot auto service center. This employment opportunity is a critical step in providing graduates with experience they need to market themselves for future jobs

Culinary Arts

The culinary Arts program prepares students for a career in one of the fastest growing industries today. Students have complete access to a fully equipped state of the art kitchen facility. There, they will experience a full-scale culinary operation. After completing the course of study, students will have the keys to unlock the secrets of making items such as soups and sauces, various salads, a host of entrees, and desserts. Students have the opportunity to work for the district preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner functions at the school and in the surrounding communities. A graduate of this program can also elect to enter the job field as a cook, short order cook, baker’s assistant, caterer’s assistant, food server, or steward. Upon completion of the course, students can receive certification in Serve-Safe Training and Pro-Start Year 1, 2 and Junior National Restaurant Association.The successful graduate can use the credits to enter college with advanced placement to many of these schools to further their education in this field.
